The murals of Cruet are a rare complete example in France of a secular medieval painting cycle from the 14th century. The ensemble of murals, consisting of twelve panels, was discovered in 1985 at the Château de la Rive in Cruet. The mural cycle provides an insight into aristocratic life and chivalric ideals.
History
The Ancienne voie romaine in Cruet follows the route of a former Sardinian road that was used from antiquity until 1766.
The Pont Victor-Emmanuel, also known as the Pont des Anglais, is 188 metres long and was completed in 1856; it was listed by decree of 19 August 1994.
The Grangerie de Lourdens was formerly owned by the monks of the Chartreuse d’Aillon. It contains a vaulted cellar dating from the 17th century.
Landscape and Trails
The dry grasslands of Cruet lie at an altitude of between 500 and 550 m on moderately sloping hillsides; they are home to plant species that are rare in Savoie.
The Sentier des Papillons is a 2.9 km-long themed trail with 194 metres of elevation gain and a stated duration of 2 hours 30 minutes. It starts at the hamlet of La Baraterie in the municipality of Cruet and is one of four discovery loops on the Chemin des Vignes in the Combe de Savoie.
Winegrowing
The Cave des Vins fins de Cruet bears the “Vignobles & Découvertes” label and combines modern facilities with traditional winegrowing expertise based on more than 80 years of experience.
