Doucy-en-Bauges: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Mont Trélod is a hiking route starting at the Parking des Cornes in Doucy-en-Bauges.

Mountain landscape

The GRP® Trélod loop passes through the mountain pastures of the Hautes-Bauges. From the summit, it offers a 360-degree panorama of Vanoise, Mont Blanc and the Belledonne range.

Trélod-Charbon is one of the most prominent upstanding synclines in the Bauges Massif. It was formed by the folding of a thick limestone layer during the formation of the Alps almost 20 million years ago.

Rudists are visible in the Trélod syncline, embedded in Urgonian limestone from the Lower Cretaceous; this formed around 120 to 130 million years ago.

Nature

In the Charbonnet research zone, GRP hiking trails leading to Mont Trélod intersect; chamois and black grouse can be observed there.

Mont Trélod lies at the heart of the Bauges National Hunting and Wildlife Reserve, where remarkable fauna and flora can be observed.

Culture and history

The Chalets du Golet consist of three buildings arranged perpendicular to the contour lines.

The Charbonnet mountain pasture has been managed again since the 2000s. Several shepherds manage it jointly and are organised in a community or belong to the same family.

The Chalets du Golet are considered characteristic of the chalets found in the great mountain regions. Historically, they were associated with pastoral and agricultural use; today, they are used more for tourism than for livestock grazing.

The statue of a martyr priest dates from the 19th century.

Routes and access

The route to Mont Trélod can be reached via La Compôte and the D60 to Doucy-en-Bauges. Bus route 30 runs to La Compôte; from there, an on-demand transport service to Doucy-en-Bauges can be used.

Access to Trélod-Charbon is on foot from Bellecombe-en-Bauges via the Reposoir and Ecuries-devant car parks and beneath the Dent des Portes. Charbon can be reached from Doussard or Bellecombe-en-Bauges via the Col de Bornette and the Chalet de la Combe.

The third stage of the GRP® Tour des Bauges between Bellecombe-en-Bauges and Jarsy or École passes through the Golet de Doucy and offers a pastoral atmosphere as well as views of the Hautes-Bauges.
