Culture and History

The Chapelle Saint Thomas was built in 1654 by François de Laigue, Baron of Chandieu. Its bell was classified as a Monument historique in 1962. In 2015, the chapel was completely restored in cooperation with the French heritage authorities.

The Château de Chandieu was also built on the site of a Gallo-Roman castellum. The Église Saint Pierre aux Liens is a Romanesque building and was originally surrounded by a cemetery and a Cluniac priory. It was consecrated in 1844 after the bell tower had been rebuilt following its collapse in 1837.

Walking Routes and Animal Experiences

There is an orienteering course with nine stations in the town centre. The orienteering courses in Saint-Pierre-de-Chandieu can be completed on foot or running.

At the Ferme de Savoye, visitors can meet more than 100 animals and enjoy horse-drawn carriage rides. The farm also offers educational tours of its animal facilities.

The Saint-Pierre-de-Chandieu market offers fruit and vegetables, cured meats, meat, flowers and regional products. The park of Château de Rajat is open to the public.
