Orliénas: Holiday apartments and holiday homes
Culture and history
The Castrum preserves medieval fortification remains with defensive walls, three round towers and a pointed-arch gate with machicolations. The present-day church of Orliénas was built in the neo-Gothic Cluniac style and preserves two bells from the former church. The Roman aqueduct of the Gier runs through Orliénas for six kilometres; it comes from Taluyers and continues to Soucieu.
The Castrum has QR codes providing information about the site. In Orliénas, 21 crosses are also marked with information boards; QR codes lead to information pages about the respective crosses. The FREESONS festival takes place in the last week of June.
Those who have chosen Orliénas as their destination would like to rent a holiday apartment here.
Nature
The natural habitats of Orliénas include dry meadows, wet meadows, wetlands, wet woodlands and bocage meadows. The landscape areas comprise extensive agricultural land, fruit-growing areas, heathland, forests and bocage landscapes.
The forests along the Casanona are wet woodlands, where oak, hornbeam, chestnut, maple and hawthorn predominate. The visible remains of the Gier aqueduct in Orliénas are currently located on private property and are not accessible.
