Culture
The Église Saint-Louis-Roi opened for worship in 1862. The bell was installed in 1863, and the church spire was erected in 1867. In 1927, Maurice Utrillo painted the church of Champagne as a gouache on paper; in June 2023, the Utrillo Committee confirmed the work’s authenticity.
In the town centre, the rose fresco illustrates the horticultural heritage of Champagne-au-Mont-d'Or. The heritage trail highlights the municipality’s historical, architectural and natural heritage. Until the 1960s, Champagne-au-Mont-d'Or was known for its horticultural production; the painted rose wall commemorates this heritage.
The Roman aqueduct of the Monts d'Or ran through Champagne-au-Mont-d'Or and was one of four aqueducts that supplied Lugdunum with water.
