Aboën: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The “Circuit du Saut du Bonson” circular route is an 8 km hike lasting approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. It begins at the Place de l’Église in Aboën, follows dirt roads and grassy paths between hamlets through forests and fields, and runs alongside the Bonson stream, passing mills and viewpoints. In 2026, the circular route is free to access and open every day all year round.

Hiking

The “D’un clocher à l’autre” circular route begins in Aboën in front of the church, is 12 km long, takes approximately four hours, and is marked in orange. It passes rural heritage features such as bachats, or cattle troughs, which were formerly used to water livestock after their return from the pastures. At the Fournier hamlet, the private medieval Château de Fournier can be viewed from the circular route.

Culture and History

The Notre-Dame parish church in Aboën dates from the 19th and 20th centuries. Its current tower was designed by Julien Dubost in 1933, built in 1934, and inaugurated in September. The church has an elongated floor plan, three naves, a quadripartite vault, and a ribbed vault. The parish church’s furnishings are associated, among others, with Faverjon, Basile Flattin, H. Céron, J. Richard, Burdin aîné, and Paccard fils.

The Lavoir de la Combette is a washhouse where the women of the community formerly washed their laundry. This use ended around 1967, after the community had been connected to the water supply. At the hamlet of Le Bedeau, or Moulin Vincent, stands the building that housed the first factory founded by M. Montcoudiol. Moulin Vincent also housed a hydraulically powered installation that supplied a dynamo used to generate electricity.
