Valezan: Holiday Apartments and Houses

Valezan is situated on a south-facing slope at an altitude of 1,200 m and offers expansive views from the Col du Petit St Bernard to the Col de la Madeleine.

Landscape

The Bief de Valezan irrigation canal is located 400 m downstream at an altitude of 1,610 m. It is 4.5 km long, flows into the Nant des Moulins and has a gradient of approximately 38 mm per metre.

The Rocheboc and Roche à Tomas peaks are located near Valezan. The Mont Rosset mountain and the Pointe de Combe Bénite peak are also nearby.

Culture and History

The Church of Saint-François-de-Sales is located east of the village of Valezan on the Chemin des Chapelles. It was built in 1727 by a stonemason from Piedmont.

The main altar of the Church of Saint-François-de-Sales in Valezan was completely redesigned in 1808 by the Piedmontese sculptor Jean-Baptiste Delponte. The later altarpieces preserve the spirit and dynamism of Baroque art. The church also contains two paintings of Notre-Dame de la Salette, as well as additional paintings of Saint Roch and Sainte Geneviève.

Trails

Along the Sentier des biefs, visitors can discover the mountain chalets of Valezan and La Côte d'Aime, as well as the old irrigation canals. These canals were essential for supplying the mountain communities with water and thus preserving their crops.

The orienteering course focusing on Valezan's heritage is 1.6 km long, has 100 m of positive elevation gain and includes six control points. It starts at the car park in the centre of Valezan.
