The Butor Archipelago is a cultural heritage complex comprising three sites in Lucinges that are open to the public. Those who have chosen Lucinges as their destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment.

Culture

The Manoir des livres is dedicated to preserving and promoting artists’ books. Its heritage collection can be viewed there year-round; workshops, video screenings, readings, conferences and meetings with artists or specialists for all audiences are also held regularly. Admission to the Manoir des livres and its exhibitions is free, and the facility is fully accessible to people with reduced mobility.

The Bibliothèque Michel Butor is a public reference library in the Intermède network. In addition to its lending and event offerings, it has a special collection on artists’ books and Michel Butor. The library also houses an archive collection about Lucinges and the surrounding area.

Since November 2025, the Maison d’écrivain Michel Butor has held the French “Maison des Illustres” quality label. The preserved author’s office and the museographic space are open to the public exclusively as part of guided tours. Tours are available on the first Saturday of every month at 4 p.m. or by reservation.

The Fête du livre d’artiste has been held annually in Lucinges since 2015 and brings together around 30 publishers, artists and writers from France and abroad. As early as 2020, Lucinges received the “Village en poésie” label awarded by the association Le printemps des poètes. This label is awarded to municipalities that give poetry an outstanding place in local life and municipal cultural policy. The Château de Lucinges is a fortified house dating from the 14th century.

Lucinges has footpaths between the hamlets; walking times and distances are provided for each connection. Various ideas for walks are available for discovering Lucinges and its attractions, including routes suggested by Annemasse Agglomération.

The Massif des Voirons offers numerous hiking trails for exploring nature, suitable for beginners as well as more athletic hikers. The Voirons also contain an area classified as a Natura 2000 site, with rare flora and fauna.

The Oratoire de Notre-Dame du Pralère was built in 1877 to ward off hail and storms. The Boucle du Pralère is a roughly half-day hike without any major difficulties and can also be completed with snowshoes.
