The Circuit du Mont Ouzon – Gemet hiking trail begins in the village of Bonnevaux and offers a central panorama of the Chablais massif. The starting point is at the parking lot by Bonnevaux Town Hall. From June 1 to October 15, the circuit can be hiked daily, provided snow and weather conditions are favorable; current access conditions should be checked with the tourist office in advance.

Culture and History

The Chapelle Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs is located in Plan de la Joux in Bonnevaux. It was built in 1834 by Father Girod from Bonnevaux.

The Bonnevaux hydroelectric power plant was commissioned in 1909. It is also known as the usine du Pont de l’Eau Noire and is a recognized cultural heritage site. At the same time, it is one of the three hydroelectric power plants built in stages along the Dranse rivers. Occasional tours of the hydroelectric facility are organized under the title « Envoyez les watts! ».

Agriculture and Regional Insights

Alpage du Muret produces sheep’s cheese and sells it on site. During the activity « Visite à la bergerie et traite des brebis », visitors can watch sheep being milked and learn about mountain dairy farming.
