Culture and History
The Hôtel d'Arlempdes is protected as a Monument historique: some parts are classified, while other façade and roof sections are listed. The protection measures were issued on 8 September 1988. The Église Saint-Nicolas dates from the mid-12th century and features reused foliate capitals as well as corbels topped with human faces.
The Maison d'Arlempde, also known as the Maison des Seigneurs, was created by 1539 from three adjoining houses and given a Renaissance façade; it is also classified as a Monument historique. Le portail de Donzère was built at the beginning of the 13th century as the fortified southern gate of the town.
The town walls of Châteauneuf-du-Rhône originated from fortifications enclosing the hills of Montpensier and Sainte-Catherine. The Bateau de pêche vire-vire is currently displayed at a picnic area in Châteauneuf-du-Rhône. The vire-vire is a small concrete fishing boat on the Rhône that was used in the first half of the 20th century. It was manufactured by Cimenteries Lafarge in Cruas (Ardèche); unlike most other boats, it is not made of wood.
Getting Around
Stage 15 of the ViaRhôna reaches Châteauneuf-du-Rhône, runs along the lônes and continues across the bridge towards Viviers. It covers 31 kilometres on a cycle path and 39 kilometres on a smooth surface.

The Fête médiévale des Bateliers et Saint-Nicolas takes place in Châteauneuf-du-Rhône every two years and has been held there for 20 years.
