The Passerelle Marc Seguin is a suspension bridge over the Rhône listed as a historic monument, connecting Tournon-sur-Rhône with Tain-l’Hermitage. Since 1958, it has been reserved exclusively for pedestrians and cyclists.

Culture

The Église Saint-Julien is a rare example of Gothic architecture in the Ardèche and is listed as a historic monument. It houses the Chapelle des Pénitents, featuring 14 narrative murals dating from around 1490.

Nature

The Sentier des Tours offers walkers views of the historic centre of Tournon-sur-Rhône and its old rooftops, as well as a beautiful view of the vineyards of L’Hermitage and the town’s old watchtowers. The Sentier des Tours is a one-hour walk starting from Rue du Doux or the town centre; because of the stairs at the beginning and end, a baby carrier rather than a pushchair is recommended for younger children.

Activities

From Tournon-sur-Rhône, the ViaRhôna offers a 20 km circular route along both banks of the Rhône. The Compagnie des Canotiers, based in Tournon-sur-Rhône, regularly offers electro-solar boat trips on the Rhône from spring to autumn, which can be booked privately for groups.

The ViaRhôna can be combined with a Canotiers boat trip from the port of Tournon-sur-Rhône to Valence or Saint-Vallier, followed by a return journey by bicycle.

In the town

In the historic centre of Tournon-sur-Rhône, the Baludik app offers a treasure hunt about the town’s history, set around the fictional guild of the pirates of the Rhône. You can shop at the Place du marché and its market halls on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Secure bicycle shelters are available along the quays of Tournon-sur-Rhône. The historic centre of Tournon-sur-Rhône is largely pedestrianised.
