Savas: Holiday Apartments and Vacation Homes

Savas is associated with hiking trails, ecclesiastical heritage and distinctive landscapes. Between historic sites and scenic paths, visitors can discover the different facets of the village and its surroundings.

Culture

The village church of Savas houses a high altar and a reredos dating from the 17th century, both of which were recently restored. The former Church of Saint-Julien-en-Goye was destroyed by Baron des Adrets in 1562. On 29 September 2002, a commemorative plaque for Paul Bourget was installed on the house in the centre of Savas where his grandmother, Marie-Françoise Bouveron, lived.

In the vicinity of Savas is La Tour d'Albon, a monument. The Abbaye Saint-Pierre de Champagne, a church, is also nearby. Further afield in the region around Savas are the Ancien Prieuré de Veyrines and the Monastère de Clavas, both historic sites.

Hiking

Le Tour du Mont Chaud is an 8 km hike with 230 m of elevation gain and a stated duration of 2 hours 30 minutes. The hike leads to the ruins of Saint-Julien-en-Goye, which offer a viewpoint. The Gourdan hike runs from Saint-Clair through green meadows to the village of Savas and onward to the Bois de Bégut; along the way, it offers beautiful views of Annonay and its basin.

The La Montagne de Sainte-Blandine route passes through Savas, as does the Le Col du Fayet route. The Bois de Bégut hike runs through shaded areas and offers several viewpoints over the Annonay basin, the Vivarais Mountains and the Rhône Valley.

Landscape

The mountains Crêt de Peillouté, Les Trois Dents, Crêt de Graland and Crêt de l'Airellier are located around Savas. Suc de Clava is a geological feature with an outcrop of serpentinized mantle rock and black serpentinite; its flora and fauna have adapted to the distinctive underlying terrain.
