Water

Pedal boats, canoes and stand-up paddleboards can be hired at Lac d’Issarlès. Swimming in Lac d’Issarlès is supervised in July and August. In the vicinity of Lac d’Issarlès, the Belvédère du Col du Gage offers a view of the entire lake after a 15-minute walk.

Culture

Near Lac d’Issarlès, troglodytic caves were created in the ejecta from the maar crater eruption. The recently restored and opened caves can be visited and convey the historical design of the dwellings of that time. A well-maintained 300-metre path leads to the Grottes troglodytiques. Eglise du Lac d’Issarlès is a Romanesque-Gothic church from the 11th century with a portal porch flanked by two towers.

Local Life

The Ferme de La Louvèche can be visited by prior reservation. Cheese, charcuterie and pork are processed on site there. A market was planned for the summer in Le Lac-d’Issarlès along the village’s main avenue; it took place on Sundays from 1 July to 31 August, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., and offered free access.
