Saint Pons: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Nature

Facing south, Saint-Pons lies at the foot of a basalt barrier or basalt cliff. The Plaine du Regard is a protected area with a mosaic-like landscape of grassland and hay meadows, as well as valuable temporary ponds and exceptional flora. The Roche Chérie neck lies between two basalt outcrops.

Hiking

The “Itinéraire de randonnée des volcans stromboliens” hiking route is an easy 11.1-kilometre circular trail with 365 metres of ascent and a duration of four hours. It begins at the hiking information point at the entrance to Saint-Pons and descends along a somewhat steep path to Roche Chérie.

The Roche Chérie neck can be reached by car as far as the indicated hamlet, where parking is available. A picnic area along this road has several tables and benches, parking spaces, and pitches for motorhomes.

The Randoland materials for Saint-Pons can be downloaded free of charge or are available from the Berg et Coiron Tourist Office. They are suitable for children aged 4 to 6, 7 to 9, and 10 and over.

History

Saint-Pons was one of the oldest and most important fiefs of the Barony of Aps.

In the hamlet of Roche Chérie, located at the foot of a neck, traces of an old keep can be found. Below the neck, a chapel leaning against the neck and built from basalt stones was constructed in the 19th century.

The church in the historic centre of Saint-Pons has medieval origins and has been rebuilt several times.
