Culture and History
Sainte-Julie is home to the Château de Sainte-Julie, a fortified manor house built in the 13th century by the Lords of Coligny. During the Renaissance, the château was extensively altered and embellished. On the first floor of the tower is a domed room with murals depicting angels holding draperies.
The Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-Lorette was built in the 15th century and was originally a modest oratory. It was extended in 1867. A statue of a mother and child that had previously stood in the chapel's façade niche was replaced by a painting.
The surrounding area of Sainte-Julie is also home to the Château des Allymes, a castle, the historic site of Abbaye de Chassagne, the historic site of Allymes Castle, and the Abbaye Notre Dame d'Ambronay monastery.
