Lhuis is home to Lac de Millieu, a 19.6-hectare glacial lake that forms part of the Bas-Bugey Natura 2000 site. The Marais du Vernay at Lac de Millieu is a wetland with wet meadows. A hiking trail crosses the Lac de Millieu area between the lake and the Marais du Vernay.
Above Lac de Millieu, a viewpoint features an information board and an audio game explaining the glacial lake and its fishpond ditches. 33 dragonfly species have been recorded at Lac de Millieu, including three protected species. Three protected bird species can also be observed there: purple heron, reed warbler and common snipe.

The Eglise Beata Maria de Lhuis stands on the site of a Gallo-Roman sanctuary and bears witness to more than 2,000 years of religious worship. The attic of the Eglise Beata Maria de Lhuis is protected as a roost for two bat species. La Pavia is a fortified house built in the 15th century.
