Ramasse is located on the western slopes of the Revermont range, in a valley parallel to the Suran Valley, also known as the Drom-Ramasse dry valley. This part of the Revermont is known for its karst features; during heavy rainfall, columns of water can form there, known locally as “tromphiaoux”. A drainage tunnel built in 1869 in the area of Ramasse channels excess water towards the Suran Valley.

Culture and history
The ruins of Saint-Julien-sur-Roche have been classified as historic monuments since 1945. The Church of Saint-Julien-sur-Roche dates from the 13th century and was destroyed by fire in 1536. Ramasse’s architectural heritage also includes the 19th-century Sainte Maxime Church.
The Chapelle des Conches dates from the 16th century; its roof and interior have been restored. In 1839, it was rebuilt at its original location. Pilgrimage Masses are held at the Chapelle des Conches on Easter Monday and Whit Monday. A preserved hand pump stands on a covered well next to a livestock trough.
Landscape and trails
The site of the Chapelle des Conches offers panoramic views over the Bresse and the Drom-Ramasse dry valley. The Conches plateau is a natural viewpoint with a 360-degree panorama and has several hiking trails.
The GR59 long-distance hiking trail runs through Ramasse and is used by hikers, mountain bikers and horse riders. The red mountain bike loop, Circuit VTT 19, runs around the Drom-Ramasse dry valley. The Vallée sèche du Revermont trail can begin in Ramasse.
An astronomical observatory is located on the Route des Crêtes and takes part in the Nuit des étoiles every summer. Roche Cuiron, a climbing area, is also located on the Route des Crêtes.
