Pérouges: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Pérouges is characterised by medieval houses whose half-timbering and projecting façades define the townscape. Anyone planning to stay in Pérouges may wish to rent a holiday apartment there.

Culture

The central square is home to the two-hundred-year-old lime tree. It was planted in 1792 and has been protected as a natural monument since 1948.

The Maison du Prince dates back to the 15th century. The Musée du Vieux Pérouges houses four rooms from the former Maison des Princes de Savoie.

The church of Pérouges is also part of the town’s historic structure: it is integrated into the town’s defensive system.

The MAC is located in the heart of the medieval town of Pérouges. It presents five to six exhibitions of contemporary art each year.

The events calendar includes the Printemps Musical de Pérouges, which takes place in May and June. Pérouges also hosts two arts and crafts markets and a Christmas market.

Seven workshops run by craftspeople and artists operate year-round. Their specialities include stained glass, screen printing, bookbinding, pottery, painting, ceramics and woodworking.

Nature

The shortest circular walking route is 2.1 kilometres long and takes around 40 minutes.

Food and drink

The Galette au sucre de Pérouges is a speciality registered as a trademark by Maison Thibaut. In 1912, Marie-Louise Thibaut revived an older local recipe and adapted it.

Getting around

Meximieux-Pérouges railway station can be reached on foot from Pérouges in around 20 minutes.
