Culture and History
The local festival tradition includes the Fête du four, which is held every last weekend in July. The program includes an event at the bread oven, performances by music groups, and a parade of school-year groups. The Saint-Irénée Church in the town center was inaugurated in 1901.
Hiking
The Boucle de Maillat is a 10 km-long hiking trail. The route is stated to take three hours and also has 240 meters of elevation gain. The circular trail starts and ends at Place de la Mairie in Maillat.
Landscape
In the Combe du Val, the Borrey flows through Maillat northward; beneath the bridge of Maillat, it becomes the Oignin. This Borrey, which flows through Maillat, is considered the only river in the Jura that flows entirely northward.
