Le Revest-Les-Eaux: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

At Mont Caume in Le Revest-les-Eaux lies the Batterie, or ouvrage Est du Mont Caume, at an altitude of 765 to 778 metres. This makes it the highest 19th-century fortification of Toulon's land defences. The construction campaign dates from 1889.

Nature

The Domaine de La Ripelle is a 78-hectare natural area with coniferous forests, agricultural terraces known as restanques, and an olive grove.

The type 2 ZNIEFF “Mont Caume” is located in the municipality of Le Revest-les-Eaux. Its landscape includes cliffs shaped by erosion, huge scree slopes, and rocks formed by water and wind. This area is home to 28 specially protected animal species, including eight key species.

The wooded shore of Lac du Revest is a starting point for hikes in the surrounding hills. Lac du Revest is also a place for fishing and, together with the Dardennes dam, forms part of a site classified as a Natura 2000 area.

Culture and history

The Vieille Valette, or Tourris, site is an oppidum and fortified settlement with a castle, church and village. From the Tour sarrasine, there is a 360-degree view of Toulon, the sea, Mont Faron, Mont Caume, as well as the dam and its lake.

The Église Saint-Christophe was consecrated in 1679 and is under the dual patronage of Saint James the Greater and Saint Christopher. It contains furnishings and paintings from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.

The Musée d'Art Sacré displays pieces related to the Roman Catholic faith on one western floor, most of them from France and Italy. An eastern floor features pieces from the Orthodox faith tradition, particularly from Egypt, Ethiopia, Greece and Russia.

Stage

Le PÔLE is a venue recognised as a “Scène conventionnée d’intérêt national – Art en territoire” at the Maison des Comoni in Le Revest-les-Eaux. It offers a multidisciplinary programme featuring circus, theatre, dance and cine-concerts. The performance programme also includes music, street arts, puppetry and object theatre.
