Culture
The present-day Church of Saint-Marcellin was consecrated in 1532. The Saint-Jean-Baptiste Chapel in Les Pananches was built in 1509 under the patronage of the Annunciation and is today under the patronage of Saint-Jean-Baptiste. The Saint-Barthélemy Chapel has wall paintings dating from the second half of the 15th century.
The Chapel of the Penitents, Notre-Dame d'Espérance, was listed as a historic monument by a protective order dated 24 March 2015. The Saint-Jean-Baptiste Chapel in Les Pananches is listed as a historic monument.
Activities
La Salle-les-Alpes has an indoor swimming pool with a 25-metre pool at the foot of the ski slopes. Supervised downhill mountain biking and bike park sessions are also offered for different age and ability levels, including at the Serre Chevalier bike park.
When rafting from the Pontillas base in Villeneuve, La Salle-les-Alpes, the descent continues to Briançon. The Pontillas gondola connects the snow front with the Méa plateau in around nine minutes and provides access to the beginners' area at its mountain station.
Nature
The hiking programme also includes multi-day hikes with overnight stays in gîtes or mountain refuges. The weekly hiking programme includes themed half-day tours to observe fauna and flora, discover the cultural heritage, as well as night-time excursions and storytelling events.
The Descente du Galibier runs from the Col du Galibier to La Salle-les-Alpes and is 28 kilometres long. Canyoning combines descending mountain streams with walking, swimming, sliding, jumping and abseiling through natural mountain gorges.
