Landscape

The Domaine de la Galinière is situated amid a 90-hectare vineyard at the foot of the Plateau du Cengle. It offers panoramic views over a valley characterised by vineyards and olive groves. To the east and south, an 8-hectare park surrounds the Château de Châteauneuf-le-Rouge.

Culture

ARTEUM, a museum of contemporary art, is located on the second floor of the Château de l’Hôtel de ville. It is open from Wednesday to Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m., with free admission. ARTEUM’s programme developed from initially focusing on modern works by Provençal painters to increasingly featuring contemporary art.

The Château de Châteauneuf-le-Rouge, now the town hall, is a 17th-century building with 54 rooms across three levels. Today’s Sainte-Victoire church stands on a site where a chapel existed in the 14th century. The chapel fell into disrepair, was rebuilt in the 17th century, destroyed again during the Revolution, and rebuilt once more in 1825.

The parish church of Sainte Victoire is included in the themed tour of the sacred heritage of the Pays d’Aix. Every year at the beginning of June, the Chorissimo choral festival takes place in the park of the Château de Châteauneuf-le-Rouge.

Cuisine

Part of the western buildings of the Château de la Galinière has been converted into a wine cellar open to the public. The Château de la Galinière offers guided tours of the vineyards and wine throughout the year, including insights into the vineyards, terroir and cellar, as well as a tasting. Oenology workshops and tastings of the estate’s six cuvées are also available year-round.

For more than 20 years, Châteauneuf-le-Rouge has hosted the Provençal gastronomy festival on the first Sunday of every July. Mastercook9 offers public cooking classes for all age groups using local and seasonal produce, as well as a monthly cooking class with a Michelin-starred chef.
