Nature
The area of Soyaux covers 1,276 hectares; 26 % of it is forested and 6 % is heathland. The Anguienne crosses the south of Soyaux and is a tributary of the Charente. In the north, the Font Noire crosses Soyaux and flows into the Touvre.
The Sentier d’interprétation des Brandes de Soyaux uses markers with QR codes to introduce visitors to the special features of the Brandes. The trail is approximately 4.5 km long and takes around two hours. The site Les Brandes de Soyaux is open every day all year round.
Culture
The Saint-Matthieu Church in the old town centre of Soyaux dates from the 12th century. The Eglise Saint-Matthieu is protected in its entirety as a historic monument; it was listed on 22 August 1949.
Soëlys is a cultural and community venue in Soyaux designed by the architect François Guibert. It offers numerous activities throughout the year and is open to all visitor groups. The Espace Henri Matisse hosts conferences, performances and events for children and adults throughout the year.
