At the entrance to the Parc Naturel Régional du Marais Poitevin lies the Pôle Nature du Marais Poitevin. It is one of the natural sites in Charente classified as “Échappées Nature”. The Pôle Nature can be explored by canoe along its canals; it also has paths and picnic areas from which the local flora and fauna can be observed.
The Pôle d’éducation à l’environnement in Taugon offers full-day or half-day excursions on its 10-hectare nature site. The workshops focus on the sensory discovery of the Marais Poitevin, animal life and rural landscapes.

The circular hiking trail “Circuit randonnée - au coeur du Marais” starts at the discovery trail behind the Échappée Nature building and crosses a canal via a footbridge. After 2.5 kilometres on a marsh road, the trail reaches the Sèvre and follows the private dyke enclosing the Marais de Taugon.
In Les Combrands, the circular hiking trail “Circuit randonnée - au coeur du Marais” follows the Canal de la Route d’Eau and leads to a rise with a view over the water. The circular hiking trail “Circuit randonnée - le canal de la route d’eau” runs along canals and may offer the opportunity to observe the remarkable biodiversity of the Marais Poitevin. Les Combrands is suitable for a walk by the water.
Culture
The Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste in Taugon stands on the main square at the highest point of the village and has a broad façade in the Neo-Romanesque style. The church building can be viewed from the outside all year round. The sanctuary contains a monumental 18th-century altarpiece with wooden statues of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, as well as a bas-relief of the Pietà.
