The Notre-Dame de Sablonceaux Abbey is an Augustinian abbey founded in 1136 by Guillaume X, Duke of Aquitaine. Since 1962, it has been patiently restored through the efforts of André Malraux. Medieval buildings have survived from the former Notre-Dame Abbey in Sablonceaux, including the church, the chapter house and the tithe barn.

Culture and History
The Pierre Levée de Berthegille dolmen has been classified as a historic monument since 1937 and dates back to the Neolithic period. Its capstone has toppled over and lies partly on the ground; two further stone slabs are still visible.
Le vieux four is a former bread oven that was restored with the help of volunteers and municipal employees. It can be seen on the road from Sablonceaux to Saint-André or Nancras, at the exit of the village.

Hiking trail PR No. 16 is suitable for beginners, is 8.0 km long and takes approximately 1 hour and 33 minutes. It starts at Sablonceaux Abbey and runs between woodland and fields. It also follows the route formerly used by priests from Sablonceaux Abbey to Saint-Romain-de-Benet.
