Neufmoulin: Holiday Apartments and Houses

Landscape

Neufmoulin lies in the green valley of the Scardon. The 12.4-kilometre-long Scardon flows north of Neufmoulin and shapes the village landscape. A continuous line of trees and shrubs along the riverbank, a wide buffer zone, bocage meadows and orchard meadows separate the Scardon from the houses.

Village Structure

Neufmoulin is a linear village along a road between Saint-Riquier to the east and Caours to the west. It has no village centre structured around a square, church or château.

Architectural Heritage

The Château du Bois-de-l’Abbaye is a remarkable architectural feature of Neufmoulin. It was built in 1870 for Arthur Prarond and illustrates the Louis XIII neoclassical style developed from the 1870s onwards, using brick and stone.

The older surviving buildings in Neufmoulin include half-timbered and timber-framed buildings with earth infill, mainly barns as well as some houses. The Demeure Prarond and its farm complex are located in Neufmoulin, in the Bois de l’Abbaye area.

Paths and Surroundings

La traverse du Ponthieu is a converted former railway line between Abbeville and Auxi-le-Château in Pas-de-Calais, suitable for walking, cycling and horse riding.

The Abbaye de Saint-Riquier is located in the immediate surroundings of Neufmoulin. The Abbaye de Notre Dame de Willencourt and the Collégiale Saint-Vulfran church are located in the vicinity of Neufmoulin. The historic site of Abbaye Notre-Dame de Forest-Montiers lies in the wider regional area around Neufmoulin.
