Gamaches: Holiday apartments and holiday homes
Water and landscape
The Gamaches Plein Air water recreation facility is a 45-hectare former gravel pit in the Bresle Valley. At Gamaches Plein Air, visitors can enjoy pedal boating, canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, windsurfing and dinghy sailing on the water.
Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Gamaches can include this as a separate part of their travel planning.
Gamaches is known for fishing tourism; fishing is possible at the municipality’s numerous ponds.
Cycling
For excursions around the ponds or in the forest, Gamaches Plein Air rents out bicycles and mountain bikes. The « entre Verre et Mer » cycle path runs from Gamaches via Eu to the coast at Mers or Le Tréport. The Circuit des Croisettes is a 42-kilometre level 2 cycling route that starts and ends in Gamaches.
In the Vimeu, the Circuit des Croisettes preserves the custom of laying down wooden crosses at the calvaries passed by a funeral procession; this custom is still maintained.
Culture and history
Two round stone towers from the former castle remain of the Ancien château in Gamaches. One is a ruin, while the other was extensively remodelled in the 19th century. The two surviving towers were partially protected as historic monuments on 16 December 1986.
The church in Gamaches is classified as a historic monument; this protection has been in place since 1862. The Church of Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul is considered to date from the 13th century.
