Yaucourt-Bussus: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

An unusual pagoda-shaped barn can be seen in Yaucourt-Bussus near the Chapelle d'Hemimont and the Bussu-Bussuel mill, westwards amid the fields. It has been restored, with the wooden structure, slate roof and brick base remaining fully intact. It was built based on a 19th-century Swedish model and formerly belonged to the Château de Yaucourt.

History

The choir of the former Saint-Michel church was restored in 1874 according to plans by the architect Léon Machy. The former Saint-Michel church is recorded in the Napoleonic cadastre of 1811. The main period of the former church is tentatively considered to be the 13th century; the church has been destroyed.

The former Saint-Michel church and the cemetery were shared by Yaucourt and Bussus. Due to the municipal boundaries, the shared church and cemetery are located in the territory of Yaucourt.

Mills

The Vaillant-Tellier mill has been fully restored since autumn 2022. The tower of the d'Hémimont mill, made of white stone, probably dates from the 17th century and is located in the territory of Yaucourt-Bussus. In 1994, this tower was completely rebuilt as part of a vocational reintegration project.
