Tillé: Holiday apartments and houses

Tillé is located on the edge of the Plateau de Chaussée, on a chalk plateau dating from the Cretaceous period. On its gently sloping hillside, the area is traversed by the Liovette Valley and by dry valleys running perpendicular to it.

Culture

The Église Saint-Étienne in Tillé houses the 17th-century painting “Assomption”. It is protected as movable cultural heritage and was placed under protection on 27 June 2006. A statue of the “Vierge à l'Enfant” stands on the altarpiece in the north aisle. The restored wooden sculpture dates from the first half of the 16th century, is protected as movable cultural heritage and was classified on 5 November 1912.

History

The oldest known traces of settlement in Tillé date from the Middle Paleolithic, around 300,000 to 30,000 years ago. They include worked flints that are occasionally found in the fields. After liberation on 30 August 1944, Tillé lay in ruins; reconstruction took around 15 years.

The airfield is also part of the town’s history: it was established in 1916 for French squadrons flying to the front and classified as an international airport in 1955.

Landscape

Along the Liovette Valley, the bank vegetation is of particular importance because of its ecological value, its function as a nesting site for numerous bird and small-mammal species, and its significance for drainage.

Tillé’s picnic and park area is located on the D1001 and offers four picnic tables, a car park, and four bins. The Aéroclub du Beauvaisis offers discovery and introductory flights with a professional flight instructor.
