Culture and History
The Moulin des Forges is a rare example of a large hydraulic grain mill from the second half of the 19th century. The building retains a vertical water turbine, the plansifter and part of the transmission system.
Four mills are still visible in Saint-Omer-en-Chaussée. They were used either for grinding grain or for powering forging hammers.
The former Maggi dairy in Saint-Omer-en-Chaussée was founded in 1899 and closed in 1971. It was considered a model dairy and was one of the few dairies at the time to have a laboratory.
The Church of Saint-Omer was built in the 16th century. Its exterior walls feature a chequerboard pattern of flint and sandstone. The roof structure dates from the same period as the construction of the church. Saint-Omer-en-Chaussée is also located along the chasse-marée route.
Water and Cycle Route
The Véloroute de la Mémoire passes through Saint-Omer-en-Chaussée. The route is a 65-kilometre gravel route and is described as a five-hour mountain biking loop.
