Passel: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

A monumental Neolithic enclosure was discovered in the hamlet of Le Vivier in Passel. The Le Vivier archaeological site in Passel was exceptionally well preserved.

History and culture

Today, only the lower parts of the entrance portal of the former Saint-Louis Charterhouse, also known as Abbaye du Mont-Renaud, remain. The ruins of a chapel built in the 19th century are preserved on Mont-Renaud; elements from the 16th century were reused in its construction.

The parish church of Saint-Martin in Passel was rebuilt after 1918 and preserves part of the façade of the former building, erected in the second half of the 16th century. A memorial plaque on Mont-Renaud commemorates the battles fought by the 57th Infantry Regiment from 25 March to 13 April 1918 and the fact that it blocked the enemy’s route to Paris. The Fontaine-Monument aux morts on Rue du Moulin in Passel was donated by Henry de Boulancy, the mayor of the municipality.

Nature

The Moyenne Vallée de l’Oise bird sanctuary, a Natura 2000 site, lies in the southeast of the municipality of Passel. Mont-Renaud is a hill separated from the Noyonnais hills that towers high above the surrounding region.

Hiking and cycling

The 10.5-kilometre Le Mont-Hubert hiking and mountain biking route passes through Passel. The estimated time for Le Mont-Hubert is around 2 hours and 20 minutes on foot and 45 minutes by mountain bike; the cumulative elevation gain is 153 metres.
