The Église Notre-Dame du Hamel was mentioned as a pilgrimage church in the 11th century and has been protected as a historic monument since 6 August 2007.
Francis I undertook a pilgrimage to the Église Notre-Dame du Hamel and had it embellished. Louis XIII visited the church on his way to Sarcus. In the 16th century, it was largely rebuilt in the Flamboyant style.
