Le Déluge: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Le Déluge lies at an altitude of 212 metres and is considered one of the highest points in the Oise department. Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Le Déluge will be interested in the village as a destination.

Culture and History

The Church of Saint John the Baptist is made of flint and brick. Its nave dates from the 16th century, while the sacristy was built in the 19th century. On the southern side is the cemetery gate known as the “Porte des Morts”; it bears this name because during funerals it allowed the deceased to pass through.

The altarpiece and its woodwork date from the 17th century. The church also houses a statue of Saint Hildevert, the patron saint of tablet-makers. The baptismal font reuses an inverted capital from the end of the 12th century, of unknown origin. A virtual tour of Saint John the Baptist is also available.

Crafts

In Le Déluge and the surrounding villages, making objects from mother-of-pearl, wood, horn, ivory, tortoiseshell and bone was part of the region's mother-of-pearl craft and tablet-making tradition. Traditional products included toothbrushes, mother-of-pearl buttons, shoehorns and fans.

Routes and Orientation

The Chemin de la Reine Blanche passes through Le Déluge and forms an 8-kilometre circular route. Its route follows the Rue du Faubourg to Le Déluge, continues to the D46 and on to the Church of Saint John the Baptist; the route then proceeds along the first road on the right.

The Laboissière-le-Déluge railway stop is located nearby. The Le Paddock guesthouse in Le Déluge offers a table d’hôtes.
