Hiking trails
The marked hiking trail “Le Rendez-vous en Forêt” begins at Suzy Town Hall. The 11.5-kilometre route has yellow-and-purple trail markings and is classified as difficult. As a large loop, the forest walk leads through the Forêt de Saint-Gobain and, among other things, reveals former underground quarries.
The municipality of Cessières-Suzy is crossed by the Via Francigena, which is signposted here as the long-distance hiking trail GR145 with white-and-red trail markings. The route connects Canterbury with Rome via France and Switzerland. Recognised by the Council of Europe as a major cultural route, the Via Francigena is more than 1,000 years old. Its markings can be seen from the Croix du Sergent to Laniscourt.
Nature
A free car park is available at the end of the Bournérias route in Cessières-Suzy for the “Tourbière et Coteaux du marais de Cessières-Montbavin” area. The area was designated a Natura 2000 site in 2012 under the Habitats Directive.
The Hottée de Gargantua is located in the Cessières-Suzy area. It is a sandstone chaos formed 56 million years ago, with rocks that sometimes resemble animals. Mont des Veaux to the north and Mont Violette to the southwest of the area are limestone hills where wild orchids grow.
Culture
The Église Saint-Rémi de Suzy is located at 90 Le Village, 02320 Cessières-Suzy, and is a monument in the municipality of Cessières-Suzy in the Hauts-de-France region. During the 2013 European Heritage Days, the church was open for free visits on a Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. The church at 02320 Suzy contains a tomb slab for Charles de Ronty, Seigneur of Suzy, and his wife Jacqueline de La Chapelle Ranson.
Geographical location
The Étangs du Moulin campsite is located on the edge of the Forêt de Saint-Gobain in the centre of the village of Suzy. It covers 7 hectares with 50 pitches, including 19 rental accommodations.
