Nature and Trails
Access to the municipal Bois d’Holnon is prohibited for safety reasons by municipal order following the storm, from 27 June 2026 until further notice. The “L’ancienne voie romaine” route forms a loop that leads back to Holnon after passing through Francilly-Selency.
History and Culture
The Église Saint-Quentin in Holnon was rebuilt between the two world wars. The former Église de “Là-Haut” in the Bois d’Holnon was built in 1436 and destroyed in 1790; a surviving bas-relief from this former church is kept in the centre of Holnon.
The Oratoire Notre-Dame du Monde Entier is part of Holnon’s cultural heritage. The Chapelle British Cemetery is the burial place of 622 British soldiers, 360 of whom have been identified. A battle between the 6th British Division and the German army took place in the village and the Bois d’Holnon from 14 to 19 September 1918.
