The Château de Guise developed into a 17-hectare fortress. At that time, the complex was surrounded by more than 1.5 kilometres of fortification walls; 4-hectare-wide moats served its defence.

The Eglise Saint-Médard de Guise has been documented at this site since 1352. The present building was rebuilt or altered in the late 15th or early 16th century.
Its architectural features include a stone choir with two bays, a brick nave divided into five aisles, and a square bell tower with a polygonal spire.
The Abbaye de Bohéries, a historic site, is located in the immediate vicinity of Guise. In the wider region are the Abbaye Notre-Dame de Fervaques and the Abbaye Notre-Dame d'Homblières, both historic sites, as well as the Château de Beaurevoir, a castle.

The EuroVelo 3 runs for approximately 40 kilometres along the Oise through the countryside. The route passes meadows, small villages situated on higher ground, and fortified churches.
