Berry-Au-Bac: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture

Côte 108 was classified as a historic monument in 1937. The former battlefield, now privately owned, remains closed to the public. Guided tours of Côte 108 are occasionally organised in cooperation with the Caverne du Dragon-Musée du Chemin des Dames.

The Nécropole nationale de BERRY-AU-BAC is a French military cemetery from the First World War. It contains the graves of soldiers who fell between 27 and 29 May 1918 during the German offensive at the Chemin des Dames. The necropolis preserves the remains of 3,933 French and 29 British soldiers, including 2,014 in individual graves and 1,958 in an ossuary.

The Monument national des chars d'assaut honours all tank crews who fell during the First World War. It is located at the starting position from which French tanks were first deployed in large numbers towards Juvincourt on 16 April 1917. Since the 2017 commemorative year, a full-scale replica of the Schneider CA1 used during the first deployment of French tanks on 16 April 1917 has been permanently displayed nearby. An annual commemorative event has been held at the monument site since 1922.
