The Church of Notre-Dame de Vouvant is a building approximately one thousand years old and one of the finest examples of Romanesque art in Bas-Poitou. The parish church of Notre-Dame in Vouvant preserves a crypt dating from the late 11th or early 12th century as the remains of an older building.
The fortification walls of Vouvant, built from local slate, are reinforced by more than twenty defensive towers. The key for climbing the Tour Mélusine is issued at the Vouvant tourist office on Place du Bail.

Visitors can take the chain ferry for a complete circuit around the fortified town of Vouvant. By reservation, L’Atelier d’Hélène offers mosaic workshops, including an introductory workshop in which participants create a mosaic and take it home.
