Hiking and Landscape

The 5 km-long Sentier des Mégalithes begins in the village of Le Tablier and leads to the megaliths of Le Tablier and their legends. The Sentier du peuplier blanc is a 4 km circular trail along the Yon. It leads to the ruins of a spinning mill and allows visitors to discover the granite chaos of Piquet.

The Sentier de l'aubépine is a 10 km circular trail through the centre of Le Tablier and its surroundings, running along the Yon. Along the way, visitors can discover villages with granite houses. The GR 364 and the GRP de la Loutre also pass through Le Tablier.

Culture and History

Cultur'Art welcomes artists of various styles every two months. The Festival of Fine Arts promotes art in rural areas; the Grange du Tablier serves Cultur'Art year-round as a venue for exhibitions, discussion and meetings.

At the Chaos de Piquet, a gable marks the traces of an adjacent dye works. Buildings from a former spinning mill dating from 1861 can also be seen there; the spinning mill was powered by a large water wheel for around ten years.

The observatory of the Centre Astronomique Vendéen is located in Les Bourbes in the municipality of Le Tablier. The Centre Astronomique Vendéen holds free events there that are open to everyone. The public programme includes the Nuit des étoiles in August, as well as events focused on the spring, autumn and winter skies.

Local Life and Evening Entertainment

The Domaine de la Vrignaie is located in the municipalities of Rosnay and Le Tablier in the Fiefs Vendéens Mareuil AOC area. Upon request, the Domaine offers individual and group tours.

La Guinguette de Piquet is a restaurant and bar in natural surroundings on the banks of the Yon. It serves homemade and regional grilled meat and fish dishes, grilled eels, frog legs and fried foods. During the high season, an evening of food, singing and dancing to music from the past and present is held there on Saturdays from 7:15 p.m.
