In the 19th century, the Dinan stream powered up to four mills in Thoiré-sur-Dinan. Together with the Narais Valley and the Bercé Forest, the Dinan forms a Natura 2000 site recognised by the European Commission. Thoiré-sur-Dinan is home to a well-preserved range of wildlife and flora, including deer, roe deer, badgers, birds and fungi.

Culture and history
The nave of the Notre-Dame de la Visitation church was built in the 11th or 12th century. Restoration work uncovered exceptional wall paintings in the nave and the Chapel of the Virgin Mary. The Notre-Dame de la Visitation church also has a rare conical bell tower.
Another testimony to the area’s industrial history is the hydraulic ram (Bollée). From 1891 to 1977, it supplied the village centre with pressurised water and remains visible beside the watercourse.
The communal washhouse in the hamlet of La Roche lies on the northern edge of the village centre. Its restoration preserved a historic meeting place where the village women exchanged news for many years.
The residential building of the Genetay watermill may date from the 16th century. In Vaux-Thierry, several houses preserve faint traces of a little-known lower-noble residential culture that may date from the 16th century.

The private motorhome parking area in Thoiré-sur-Dinan offers picnic and recreation areas.
Every year, Thoiré-sur-Dinan celebrates Saint Vincent’s Day with the presentation of a barrel in the communal wine cellar, followed by a convivial meal. The La Truite Dinantaise association also organises a festive day in Thoiré-sur-Dinan featuring an introduction to fishing.
Walking trails
Two walking trails start in Thoiré-sur-Dinan: the 8 km T4 and the 14 km T5.
