Culture and history

The Église Saint-Gervais-et-Saint-Protais stands at one of the higher points of Placé, precisely at an elevation of 188 m, and overlooks the entire village. In the 19th century, it was rebuilt on the foundations of an older sanctuary.

The Château de la Guitterie dates from the 16th and 17th centuries. Its two towers form a gatehouse; remains of an earlier drawbridge have also been preserved at the château.

Placé is home to the Lavoir de Saint-Gervais washhouse. In 1464, Jean Guittier founded a chapel dedicated to Saint Francis of Assisi.
