The Circuit des Menhirs is an easy 9.1-kilometre circular trail with a stated duration of 2 hours and 15 minutes. At the same time, it is a walking and cycling trail in the heart of Chauvé’s megalithic heritage.

Culture

The Menhirs des Platennes, also known as Les trois pierres de La Crotrie, form an arrangement of three toppled menhirs, each approximately 4 metres high. Since 2 May 1989, the Menhirs des Platennes have been listed by decree as a Monument historique.

The Circuit des Menhirs includes the Menhir de Chevanou, which is considered to be approximately 4 metres high. The Menhir du Chevanou, also known as the Pierre de La Crotrie, consists of two blocks; the upright block is 4.20 metres high. The Menhir du Chevanou has been listed by decree as a Monument historique since 2 May 1989. It stands by the roadside near the hamlet of La Crotrie, where the Les Menhirs circular trail passes through the commune of Chauvé.

Trails and Landscape

The Circuit des Villages offers the opportunity to observe birds, butterflies and other wildlife in their natural habitat. From the Menhir de La Pierre Lematz, the municipal route offers views across the landscape as far as the range of hills concealing the Baie de Bourgneuf-en-Retz.

Fishing is possible in the pond at the Parc de loisirs; swimming is prohibited. The Parc de loisirs is crossed by walking paths and has a pump track for cross-country cycling.
