History

The Caffino weir has existed since the 12th century. It once supplied water to power the mill on this bank of the Maine. The Moulin Chupin is 19 metres high and was used as a watchtower by German troops during the occupation.

The Pont Caffino climbing site in Château-Thébaud has 64 routes graded from 3c to 7a+; it is accessible to beginners and experienced climbers. The La Boucle de la Maine hiking route is 20 kilometres long and starts at the car park of the Pont-Caffino leisure complex in Château-Thébaud. Parc du Crapa is located in the Château-Thébaud area.

Landscape

Le Porte-Vue is a 23-metre-long Corten steel structure standing 45 metres high, offering views of the Maine and the Caffino area. The Île Beaulieu and Île la Chenaie islands are located near Château-Thébaud. The Île d'Arouix island lies in the wider regional surroundings of Château-Thébaud.

Culture

The historic Abbaye de Villeneuve site is located near Château-Thébaud. The Machines de l'île museum, the Musée de l'imprimerie and the Musée Jules-Verne are also located near Château-Thébaud.

Domaine Jérémie Huchet offers tours covering the history of the estate, work in the vineyard, the terroirs and winemaking techniques, as well as guided tours of the cellars and wine cellar. The Domaine Jérémie Huchet tasting selection includes five communal appellations and organic Muscadets.

Guinguette La Huchette serves wines from the estate, craft-brewed organic beer, local charcuterie and cheeses, as well as sausages prepared with Muscadet.
