Lessay: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Lessay is home to the Abbaye Sainte-Trinité, a Romanesque Benedictine abbey built in the 11th century. Lessay Abbey is also one of the first Romanesque churches with ribbed vaults.

Culture

The Foire Sainte-Croix was founded by the monks of Lessay Abbey at the end of the 11th or beginning of the 12th century. It is an annual three-day agricultural festival held on or around the second weekend in September. It includes demonstrations by producers such as bakers, confectioners and other food industry professionals.

Nature

The Landes de Lessay combine open and wooded heathland and can be explored on foot or by bicycle. The Tourbière de Mathon is located in the centre of Lessay and is considered France’s first national nature reserve.

Things to Do

The “Des rives de l’Ay aux landes de Lessay” hiking trail is rated moderate, takes around two hours and is 9.2 kilometres long. Guided tours of Lessay Abbey provide access to the 18th-century cloister and the gardens.

The Centre Aéronautique de Lessay is located at Aérodrome Charles Lindbergh, 30 Route de l’Aérodrome, 50430 Lessay. It offers introductory flights during which participants fly an aircraft and are briefed and debriefed by a flight instructor. Scenic flights are also available by reservation, allowing visitors to discover the landscapes of the Cotentin.

The production workshops of Laiterie Th. Réaux can be visited by prior reservation. The visit to Laiterie Th. Réaux ends with a tasting of its raw-milk Camembert.
