The Église Notre-Dame in Fleury was built in the 12th century and is one of the largest churches in the Avranches region. The Église Sainte-Barbe contains five stained-glass windows depicting the Assumption, the apparition of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to Sainte Marguerite-Marie Alacoque, the Resurrection of Christ, Saint Barbara, and Christ as King and Notre-Dame de Lourdes. An old baptismal font is also located there. In Fleury, Sainte Radegonde is associated with skin diseases in a tradition of invoking the saints.
The Fontaine Notre-Dame de la Jaunisse is one of the notable stops along the GRP 5 “Sur la trace des fondeurs de cloches”; this is a named long-distance hiking trail on which the fountain is listed as a stop.
Things to do
The Circuit du Pont Cey is a 4.2-kilometre circular walking trail that starts and ends in Fleury. The route takes about one hour and is classified as a very easy walk. It passes through fields and landscapes with Norman cattle. North of the Circuit du Pont Cey, the Oratoire Notre-Dame de la Jaunisse lies slightly off the route.
In the village
Fleury provides a free outdoor multisports facility that is open every day. Fleury’s market takes place every Wednesday morning in the church square; several local producers offer their goods there.
Anyone who includes the Église Sainte-Barbe and the Circuit du Pont Cey in their travel itinerary may wish to rent a holiday apartment.
