Culture and History
The Phare de la Roque, including the outer walkway in its entirety, has been listed as a historic monument by a decree dated 15 September 2011. The lighthouse was built in 1849 and commissioned in 1850.
The Church of Saint-Samson stands in the centre of the town and is predominantly made of bricks. The west wall of the nave and the bell tower of the Church of Saint-Samson were built in 1877 by the architect Perrée. The parish church of Saint-Samson also contains a life-size statue of Saint Samson.
Remains dating from the 6th century have been preserved in the Merovingian cemetery. These include remnants of sarcophagi and foundations of earlier buildings. The Chapelle Notre Dame dates from the 14th century.
Nature
The ZNIEFF area of Le Blanc Banc includes Saint-Samson-de-la-Roque and covers 338.3 hectares. Le Blanc Banc is a floodplain area on the left bank of the Seine at its confluence with the Risle. Most of Le Blanc Banc has been part of the Seine Estuary National Nature Reserve since the end of 1997.
The protected area of Marais Vernier also includes the municipality of Saint-Samson-de-la-Roque.
