Culture and history

At the heart of Sainte-Marguerite-de-Viette stands the Église Sainte Marguerite. The village developed around the church, which now occupies a central location. Some parts of its nave date back to the 13th century.

The interior of the Église Sainte Marguerite was completely painted and decorated during extensive renovations in 1860 and between 1908 and 1931.

The history of the village also includes the historic cheese dairy. It was built around 1909 by Edouard Jus for the production of Camembert and ceased operations around 1926. The former cheese dairy comprises a single-storey ripening room made of quarry limestone and bricks, as well as an extension made of bricks, half-timbering, wattle and daub, and wood.
