Saint-Pierre-Du-Jonquet: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The church of Saint-Pierre-du-Jonquet dates from 1757 in its main construction phase. Its dome with a small lantern is considered typical of 18th-century architecture. Including the stone altarpiece firmly attached to the masonry, it was listed as a historic monument by decree of 30 December 1986.

Culture

The billiard room of the Château du Jonquet, including its furnishings and wallpaper, was classified as a Monument historique by decree of 12 December 1996. The room features panoramic wallpaper depicting ancient Greece from the early 19th century, produced by the Dufour manufactory in Paris.

During a guided interior tour of the Château du Jonquet, visitors are shown the preserved original layout of the rooms and the original decorations; the tour is led by the owner or a family member.

History

The Château du Jonquet was built in the 18th century as a “Maison des champs”, that is, as the summer residence of a shipowner from Honfleur.

The Monument to the Massacred of Saint-Pierre-du-Jonquet was inaugurated on 11 November 1957 to commemorate the civilians from Dives and Cabourg who were murdered in July 1944.

Nature

The Château du Jonquet is located near Beuvron-en-Auge, opposite the Dives marshes. The French garden is enclosed by walls and features yew borders, topiary shrubs and flower beds with white flowers. The courtyard of honour is also enclosed by walls and lined with rows of lime trees.
