Culture and history

The Église Saint-Hilaire has a Romanesque nave; parts were renewed after 1357 and 1661. It also features a row of corbels decorated with figures and a flat wooden ceiling made of wood. During the Hundred Years' War, the Église Saint-Hilaire and its tower occupied a strategic position.

The dovecote in the park of the Château was listed as a historic monument by decree of 13 April 1933. The former mill is part of the industrial heritage. It successively served as a grain mill, oil mill, grain mill and then as a residence.

The Château de Lasson and Château de Fontaine-Henry, both castles, are located in the vicinity of Cairon. The Château de la Londe and Château de Lantheuil, also castles, are likewise located around Cairon.

Nature and landscape

The Vey is a tributary of the Mue and meanders for 1.6 km through the municipalities of Cairon and Thaon. The Point de vue sur le Vey viewpoint is a panorama on the Chemin Notre-Dame du Marais in Cairon.

Hiking

The Balade caironnaise is an easy, 8.17 km circular walking route with an average duration of 2 hours and 25 minutes. It leads into the enclosure of the Église Saint-Hilaire and around its cemetery. Along one path, it runs for approximately 400 m towards La Pierre Tourneresse and reaches the megalith.
