Saint-Pierre-Canivet: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
The present-day Château de la Tour was built in 1769 for Count Louis-François-Anne de Séran. With their simplicity and restraint, its balanced white-stone façades already evoke the Louis XVI style. Towards the end of the 18th century, under Madame de Séran, the château became an important meeting place for the writers of the time.

Culture and history
The parish church of Saint-Pierre contains a gravestone belonging to Louis François de Seran. At Île d’Amour in the Bois de la Tour, the remains of a medieval motte, which was the first seigneurial château of La Tour, have been preserved; in the 18th century, eminent minds, including the poet Marmontel, gathered there around Madame de Séran.
The high-quality local building stone “Pierre d’Aubigny” was extracted from the upper part of the Caen limestone formation in the underground quarries in the surrounding area.
Nature
The Bois du Roi and the adjacent forests of the Bois de la Tour extend over 430 hectares south and west of the Château de la Tour.
The former underground quarry of Saint-Pierre-Canivet served as a wintering site for nine bat species; five of them are listed in Annex II of the Habitats Directive. In the past, approximately 200 individual bats overwintered there each year.
